America’s Obituaries and Death Notices — Search more than 63 million obituaries and death notices from over 4,100 U.S. sources. Updated daily, this collection contains valuable genealogical information such as occupation, avocation, education, military service, religious affiliation, family members, colleagues and more. Available remotely 24/7 on any device.

Black Life in America — Black Life in America—a unique digital archive of news media—presents the broad sweep of African American history in ways no textbook or other online resource can match. By offering balanced coverage from diverse sources published from 1704 through present day, this multi-disciplinary resource is crucial for the study and interpretation of historical and current events.

Explora Public Libraries — Explora is a user-friendly search tool that offers access to thousands of magazine and journal articles on a wide range of topics for both students and lifelong learners.

Explora Middle & HS — Explora supports both student research and classroom instruction with age-appropriate content for middle and high school learners with an easy-to-use interface and great accessibility tools, including translation and text to sound.

Gale in Context: Elementary — Gale In Context: Elementary meets the research needs of students in Kindergarten through grade 5, with age-appropriate content from magazines, newspapers, and more.

Heritage Hub — Explore your family history with the premier collection of U.S. obituaries and death notices for in-depth genealogical research from 1704 – today. HeritageHub helps you easily identify relatives, uncover new information and potentially unknown family members. Includes deep coverage from all 50 states, hard-to-find content from the mid 1900’s, and original obituary images.

Homework Help Now — Connect LIVE with a certified tutor, seven days a week between 2 and 11 pm, for assistance with assignments, research and writing. Also find practice tests, study plans, and more. Tutoring is available in English and Spanish.

Peterson’s Test Prep — Whether you’re a student planning for college, preparing for upcoming standardized tests, or a professional embarking on a new career path, Peterson’s Test Prep can help you along the way. This valuable resource includes full-length practice tests for GED, SAT, ACT, PSAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, TOEFL, U.S. citizenship, and more. It offers information on undergraduate and graduate programs and tuition and scholarship assistance, as well as resume, interviewing, and networking advice.

Transparent Language — Learn to speak 140+ foreign languages including over 20 indigenous languages, American Sign Language, and Citizenship Prep, and also includes ESL/ELL materials for speakers of 34 different languages. Transparent Language is perfect for the business travelers or tourists, as well as supplementing classroom lessons for students.

eBooks, Audiobooks, and Digital Magazines — Visit the Blue Ridge Download Consortium (BRDC) to download eBooks from our catalog through Libby. Read a book in your browser window or download for Kindle, EPUB ebook, or PDF. Books are available for 14 days before return or renewal. Download the Libby app and choose the Madison County Library as your library to gain access to digital audiobooks, ebooks, and digital magazines. Get help with the Blue Ridge Download Consortium collections. Please note: you will be prompted for a PIN when using the Blue Ridge Download Consortium, please use the last four digits of your Madison County Library card.

Magzter Library — Digital magazines are now available through the Library of Virginia via the Magzter Library app. Android and iOS users can download the app from the Apple Store or the Google Play Store (please be sure to use the Magzter Library app not the standard Magzter app). Magzter can also be accessed in a browser at https://mgztr.co/libraryapp. To set up your account, click the Continue with Library Card link, enter your email address to receive an OTP code and then select the Madison County Library and enter your Madison County library card to start reading.
